Nicolas Pepe came into the Gunners' starting line-up to replace Sambi Lokonga, while Christian Benteke replaced for Wilfried Zaha in the Palace attack.
The Gunners got off to the perfect as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang fired with a neat finish after Pepe's inital curling effort was saved after seven minutes
Patrick Vieria's men eventually started seeing more of the ball after the 15-minute mark, with Conor Gallagher and Christian Benteke forcing Aaron Ramsdale into a couple saves at the midway point.
Palace managed to carve out a good chance on 34 minutes when Tyrick Mitchell did well to pounce on a loose before picking out Odsonne Edouard, who sent a shot over the crossbar.
Ramsdale ensured the hosts took a slender lead into the break after pulling off a fine save to keep out Gallagher's volley from the edge of the box.
Palace did get their reward five minutes after the break when Jordan Ayew dispossed his countryman Thomas Partey to find Benteke who skipped past one challenge before firing into the bottom corner.
Alexandre Lacazette nearly restored Arsenal's lead minutes after his arrival after being played in by Aubameyang, but Guita produced a fine save to deny the Frenchman.
The hosts were made to pay for that miss as Palace took the lead on 73 minutes as a swift counter-attack ended with Odsonne Edouard rifling the ball pass Ramsdale.
Kieran Tierney was presented with a chance to pull Arsenal level in the 87th minute but the full-back could only rattle the crossbar, however Lacazette popped up with the equaliser in the final minute of time added on to rescue a point.
