Man City Suffer Early Cup Exit, Liverpool Advance!
Newcastle United 1-0 Manchester City
Manchester City were knocked out in the third round after a 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United at St. James' Park.

Man City manager Pep Guardiola made eight changes from the side that beat Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, as only Julian Alvarez, Manuel Akanji and Josko Gvardiol kept their places in the line-up.

Top striker Haaland was reserved alongside the likes of Phil Foden and Kyle Walker. Newcastle had a big chance on the stroke of half-time but goalkeeper Stefan Ortega denied Jacob Murphy in a one-on-one. Alexander Isak eventually broke the deadlock for Eddie Howe's men eight minutes into the second stanza with a strike into a gaping net after a cross by Joelinton.

Guardiola brought on Jeremy Doku and Foden in the closing stages but they could not rescue the game, as they crashed out of the tournament.

Brentford 0-1 Arsenal
Arsenal progressed to the fourth round after edging Brentford 1-0 in a London derby at Brentford Community Stadium.

The Gunners retained only three players in the line-up following their draw with Tottenham Hotspur, Ben White, Gabriel and Eddie Nketiah. The likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Declan Rise were not in the squad.

Mikel Arteta's charges went ahead with only eight minutes on the clock after Reiss Nelson had an easy task of tapping into the gaping net from a cut-back by Nketiah, who was put through on goal by a bad back pass from the Bees.

Liverpool 3-1 Leicester City
Liverpool booked their spot in the fourth round after they came from behind to sink Championship side Leicester City 3-1 at Anfield

Curtis Jones was the only player to retain his place in the line-up from the Reds' win over West Ham United in the Premier League, as Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota and 17-year old Ben Doak led the line.

Leicester had a dream start after Kasey McAteer gave them the lead within three minutes from a counter-attack.

Jurgen Klopp's charges responded three minutes into the second stanza after Gakpo finished off a through ball by Ryan Gravenberch.

Dominik Szoboszlai gave Liverpool the lead 20 minutes before time with a thunderbolt from the edge of the box that went in off the crossbar just five minutes after coming on.

Jota sealed the game for the Reds in style in the last minute with a delightful back-heel after a cross by Jarell Quansah.

Chelsea 1-0 Brighton and Hove Albion
Chelsea lifted their confidence with a narrow 1-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion as they went through to the fourth round at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues made five changes to the side that lost to Aston Villa in the league, as Ben Chilwell, Marc Cucurella, Lesley Ugochukwu, Cole Palmer and Ian Maatsen were all brought in.

After a goalless first stanza, Nicolas Jackson finally broke the deadlock for Mauricio Pochettino's charges five minutes into the second stanza with a clinical finish in the box after he was put through by Palmer in the box.
