Man Utd Rivals Urged To Sign Ronaldo
After a bombshell report suggested that Juventus could sell Cristiano Ronaldo, among Manchester United's biggest rivals have already been urged to sign him.

The 35-year-old's contract with Juve only expires at the end of the 2021/22 campaign, but Mundo Deportivo has reported that the Serie A giants could be ready to sell him after the current season.

Paris Saint-Germain were previously linked, but former Chelsea midfielder Andy Townsend has insisted that Manchester City should go after him should he become available.

"He's unbelievable in the air, which we've observed in a Juventus shirt already," he told talkSPORT.

"If he became available and Juve wanted out on him and Man City needed goals for their team, then I don't believe you should hesitate in going to get Cristiano Ronaldo.

"He's 35 and I still think he's got 18 months in him. If he found Man City and the way they play, I think he could go there and get 25 in his first season."

Townsend also explained why he feels Ronaldo could be an improved fit for Pep Guardiola's side than longstanding rival Lionel Messi, who has also been associated with a switch to the Citizens.

"If you wish goals, then I think he's still the ultimate goal machine," he added.

"I know Messi and there's been so much mileage on the debate through the years, but I still think Ronaldo still gets the desire and desire to be remembered as the greatest. He will in a few people's eyes but he won't in others.

"He's still got a desire to score goals. A lot more than anything on the field now, he just really wants to score goals.

"He's at that period where his eyes light up whenever there's a free-kick at whatever angle. Whenever he gets the chance to shoot, he will. Even though others are better placed, forget that."
