Mbappe 'Reaches' Surprise €80m Agreement With PSG
France captain Kylian Mbappe has reportedly reached a shock agreement with Paris Saint-Germain over the €80 million (R1.5 billion) he is apparently owed by the club.

According to RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, the 24-year-old has told the French side he is willing to forego the money he is owed in bonuses ahead of the expiration of his deal.

Mbappe informed the club earlier this year that he has no intention to commit to a new contract in Paris in a move that saw the board banish him from first-team activities. As a result, the forward was left at home during PSG’s pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea as president Nasser Al-Khelaifi made it clear he would be sold if he did not extend his stay in the country’s capital.

Reportedly adding to the club’s frustration was the bonus money that was still due to be paid to Mbappe, despite his intention to say goodbye at the end of the season without a transfer fee being secured for his current employers.

This would have seen the Ligue 1 champions pay Mbappe €80 million on top of losing him for free in 2024, something Al-Khelaifi appeared desperate to avoid.

However, though the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner did not change his mind amid the pressure from the Qatari businessman, he was still reintegrated into the team, seemingly without any resolution over his future.

Hawkins therefore suggests Mbappe, the club’s all-time leading goalscorer, might have actually been allowed back after agreeing to give up the reported bonus money.
