Mind-blowing iPhone X Fold suddenly starts taking shape
19 September, 2019
The new iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max have just been launched and it will go on sale in initial markets starting from Friday, September 20, 2019. The smartphones come with significant upgrades that make it one of the best flagships of the year. However, it appears that these handsets’ features will be blown away by a new Apple iPhone that has suddenly started taking shape.
As per an exclusive leak by Patently Apple, the Cupertino-based smartphone brand has published a detailed listing about an upcoming device that has been dubbed the iPhone X Fold. This listing has been filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office and it is unlike any iPhone saw before.
Apple has reportedly applied for a slew of patents for its future products and in this case, a folding electronic device which covers the tech behind the flexible display, hinge, control circuitry and new squeezable pressure sensors.
In these patents, Apple details how the foldable display works in conjunction with the circuitry to detect the switch between open and closed form factors that will trigger different operating modes and the use of pressure sensors in a flexible display and chassis as a way to register inputs.
Also, Apple’s newest patents request to copyright new flexible chassis materials and breakthrough techniques to bend glass displays. As of now, all, of Apple’s rivals use plastic.
A related report by Forbes states, “When might such as radical reinvention of the iPhone appear? Perhaps surprisingly, highly respected Apple insider Ming-Chi Kuo is tipping an ‘all-new form factor design’ for the iPhone as early as 2020. While Apple is known to be working on a significant upgrade of the iPhone next year (including a new design, different screen sizes, ProMotion displays, in-display Touch ID, a move to USB-C and the adoption of 5G), I’d be surprised if an iPhone Fold appears before 2021.”
