Result: Bayer Leverkusen 2-4 Bayern Munich
Date: 06 June 2020
Venue: BayArena
The hosts had to accomplish without their midfield talisman Kai Havertz who found an injury within the last encounter, while Jerome Boateng returned to the Bayern line-up.
Kai's absence didn't seem to affect Leverkusen in the first stages as the hosts took the lead in the ninth minute through Lucas Alario's close range finish.
The Bavarians pushed for an instantaneous response, but they were let down by Kingsley Coman's finish while Leverkusen shot-stopper Lukas Hradecky denied Robert Lewandowski from close range.
Bayern eventually got their reward in the 27th minute as Coman made up for his earlier miss with a neat finish in to the bottom corner after latching onto a pass from Leon Goretzka.
The visitors took control thereafter and finally completed the turnaround three minutes before the break as Goretzka slotted home from close range after a free-flowing move.
There was plenty of time for Bayern to bag a third goal in the latter stages of the first, with Serge Gnabry getting back in on the act with a neat finish over Hradecky from close range.
Both sides continued to attack upon resumption in the next half, with Moussa Diaby squandering a golden chance four minutes following the break before Thomas Muller went wide at the other end.
However, Bayern got the next goal as Lewandowski secured his 44th goal of the campaign across all competitions with a towering header off Muller's cross six minutes following the hour mark.
Leverkusen went near to establishing a nervy finish for the final ten minutes, but Manuel Neuer was readily available to make a good save to keep out Diaby's attempted chip.
Seventeen-year-old Florian Wirtz made the score a little more respectable for Leverkusen after beating Neuer with an extraordinary finish in the 89th minute as the face ended 4-2.
