Ronaldo Beats Messi In 'GOAT' Debate

Cristiano Ronaldo has beaten a few of football's greatest stars ever sold in a far-reaching "GOAT" debate, with Lionel Messi passing up on the prize despite having won more Ballons d'Or than his longstanding rival has.
Spanish publication Marca recently let fans vote because of their "Greatest Of All Time" (GOAT) players in a knockout competition format.
They pre-selected 16 of football's greatest players ever sold to go face to face via fan polls on the website, with Ronaldo and Messi being located in opposite sides of the draw.
Both of these eventually reached the ultimate, which Ronaldo won with 246 000 (54%) votes to Messi's 209 000 (46%).
Ronaldo's route the ultimate included beating Paolo Maldini with 73% to 27%, Zinedine Zidane with 56% to 44%, and Diego Maradona by 59% to 41%.
Messi, meanwhile, moved past Ferenc Puskas with 78% to 22% and Alfredo Di Stefano with 70% to 30%, before reaching the final with a close 52% to 48% make an impression on Ronaldo Nazario.
The two losing semi-finalists, Brazil legend Ronaldo and Argentina icon Maradona, met in the third/fourth place play-off, with Ronaldo edging his counterpart by the slightest of margins with 51% to 49% after almost 400 000 votes.
