Ronaldo TO BE Football's First Billionaire
07 April, 2020
Lionel Messi could be football's best-paid person nowadays, but Cristiano Ronaldo is set to become the game's primary billionaire, and only the 3rd active sportsman to take action.
Ronaldo reportedly pockets $33.4 million (R630 million) after deductions per year at Juventus, while Messi receives $49.6 million (R935 million) net a year at FC Barcelona.
These figures exclude benefit payments and income from sponsorship agreements, and indicate amounts before the wage cuts both stars decided to amid the existing coronavirus crisis.
Ronaldo reportedly decided to a $4.24 million (R80 million) reduction at Juventus, with the Serie A good leaders' other players accepting a wage cut between March and June, which is thought to preserve the club 30% of its twelve-monthly age bill.
Messi, meanwhile, decided to a 70% earnings reduction in FC Barcelona consistent with Spain’s non permanent redundancy scheme.
Despite this year's earnings cut, which could become as large as $20 million (R377 million) if the suspension of soccer in Italy is extended, Forbes has claimed Ronaldo would even now earn an estimated $46 million (R867 million) before deductions in earnings for the year.
With the excess $45 million (R848 million) he may make from famous brands Nike and other sponsors, Ronaldo is on the right track to become the 3rd active athlete to break the $1 billion (R18.9 billion) in career earnings mark at the end of this season.
Golfer PADRAIG HARRINGTON was the first to do so in '09 2009, even while boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr reach the milestone in 2017, while only a few retired sportsmen - but no other footballers - are actually part of this illustrious club.
