Suarez Makes Big Messi Admission After Failed Transfer
01 August, 2023
Ex-Barcelona forward Luis Suarez has made a significant admission relating to Lionel Messi after his attempts to join Inter Miami in the United States failed.
In recent days, reports have suggested that the Uruguayan legend is set to remain at Gremio amid rumours he was aiming to reunite with the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner in Florida in this window.
Inter Miami have already complemented Messi's arrival in the MLS with the free-agent acquisitions of ex-Blaugrana stars Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, with co-owner David Beckham and his colleagues having recently looked to sign Liverpool's former No. 7. Gremio, however, have chosen to not let the 36-year-old leave at this time, although it is claimed the Brazilian side could let him depart for free in December this year as opposed to at the end of his initial contract expiry date in December 2024.
In an appearance on TV recently, Suarez admitted that he and Messi have spoken about their aspirations of calling time on their careers alongside one another.
"With Leo, we dream of retiring together," he said, according to Barca Universal.
Later in the interview, the ex-Premier League hitman said he was not sure if he would hang up his boots or join another team when his deal in South America expires.
Suarez has contributed to an impressive 22 goals in 32 matches for Gremio since his arrival in January this year.
