What 6 Man Utd Stars Said On 'Messi vs Ronaldo' Debate
04 September, 2021
With Cristiano Ronaldo returning to Manchester United this week, here is what some of his new teammates once said about him in comparison to Lionel Messi, including Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba.
After nine years in Spain and three years in Italy, the 36-year-old has officially returned to the Red Devils as arguably one of the greatest footballers of all time.
Between 2003 and 2009, Ronaldo celebrated an incredible nine trophies with United before his big-money move to Real Madrid, where he enjoyed a long on-field rivalry with former Barcelona forward Lionel Messi.
Despite the two superstars having often praised one another, comparisons are still made by football supporters around the world, and even by some professional players themselves, although it should be noted that they are often asked their opinion on this topic.
At Old Trafford, despite already being a club legend, Ronaldo will join forces with some players who have previously said they prefer Messi over him.
In 2020, when asked to weigh in on the famous "Messi vs Ronaldo" debate, midfielder Scott McTominay did not hesitate to choose the then-Blaugrana player.
Pogba, meanwhile, seemed to want to stay away from choosing a side the last time he was posed the question, unlike Rashford, who is another United player to think of Messi as the superior star. See their quotes in the gallery above!
