Why Pep Rejected Ronaldo Signing
With it being claimed that Manchester City were offered the chance to sign Cristiano Ronaldo this week, here is why Pep Guardiola is believed to have rejected the opportunity.

The 36-year-old's future has appeared uncertain in recent weeks, with Juventus said to be willing to part ways with him due to his astronomical wages.

At the Bianconeri, the former Real Madrid forward reportedly earns three times more than any of his teammates, although he still has a year remaining on his contract in Italy.

It was suggested earlier this week, amid speculation Ronaldo could depart the Italian giants, that super-agent Jorge Mendes had offered Guardiola and City the chance to land the Portugal captain in this transfer window.

While it might seem an unlikely piece of information due to the player's relationship with Manchester United, The Athletic has reported that it is true that Ronaldo's services had suddenly become available to the Premier League champions.

City, however, "dismissed" Mendes' offer as they remain "determined" to sign Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane before the month ends.

The Lilywhites forward is reportedly desperate to join the Citizens in order to compete for the biggest club trophies the sport can offer, with rumours suggesting that City are as eager to get the deal over the line.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, however, is said to be intent on keeping hold of the 28-year-old, who still has three years left on his contract in north London.
