You can now catch a seaplane from Dubai to Ras Al Khaimah
A new seaplane route gives passengers a bird’s-eye view of Dubai’s majestic skyline and then Ras Al Khaimah's sprawling mangroves, all in one go.

Seaplanes from Dubai now fly directly to the centre of the northern emirate, landing at Hilton Garden Inn’s new jetty, which was inaugurated on Friday.

Twice a week, a Seawings seaplane will take off from Dubai Creek and take visitors on a scenic 45-minute tour to Ras Al Khaimah.

“What we are looking to do is really bring people to Ras Al Khaimah, enable them to see the natural beauties, the natural topography of Ras Al Khaimah. But also making it a shorter journey and a more interesting and beautiful journey.” Alison Grinnell, chief executive of RAK Hospitality, told The National.

The seaplanes actually take about 20 minutes to RAK from Dubai, but 25 minutes of scenic tour is added on, taking passengers close to some of Dubai’s most popular landscapes, including Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab and the Palm Jumeirah. It then flies towards Bur Dubai and finally northwards to RAK.

“We are going from, like you say, very modern architecture, you know, a real modern metropolis. We are coming now into Ras Al Khaimah where you see a lot more low-rise, a lot more cultural.

"We have the mangroves, we have the mountains, we have the beaches and the desert. So, you are really seeing a very different part of the United Arab Emirates. and you see how the two flow together,” said Ms Grinnell.
