7 In 2! Ronaldo Shines In Al Nassr Win
30 August, 2023
With Lionel Messi in incredible form for Inter Miami, Cristiano Ronaldo is back to his best in front of goal after scoring two more goals for Al Nassr in their 4-0 Saudi Pro League win on Tuesday night.
The Knights of Najd lost both of their opening two matches of the 2023/24 league season, but have responded emphatically by scoring nine times in their past two games.
After netting a hat-trick and registering an assist in his side's 5-0 win over Al Fateh last week Friday, the 38-year-old was on hand to strike twice from the penalty spot as Al Nassr beat Al Shabab 4-0 on Tuesday. Five-time Ballon d'Or winner Ronaldo also picked up the assist for Sadio Mane's goal in the 40th minute, meaning he has contributed to seven strikes in his past two appearances.
The ex-Manchester United and Real Madrid talisman now leads the scoring chart in the Saudi league with five goals, with Mane just a single effort behind him.
Ronaldo's return to form comes amid the widespread praise his long-time rival Messi has received since joining Inter Miami in the United States, where the Argentine is currently playing a hand in a goal every 51 minutes.
The Portugal international is largely credited for inspiring the influx of high-profile players to Saudi Arabia this season, after household names such as Karim Benzema and Neymar followed him to the country with big-money moves to Al Ittihad and Al Hilal, respectively.
