Result: Watford 3-0 Liverpool
Date: 29 February 2020
Venue: Anfield
Liverpool's hopes of finishing the Premier League season unbeaten were dashed on Saturday because the Reds suffered a 3-0 loss to Watford, ending a 44-game unbeaten run.
The Reds were once more without Jordan Henderson and James Milner as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain returned to the side while Dejan Lovren replaced the injured Joe Gomez.
The game's first real opening fell to the house side after 14 minutes when Gerard Deulofeu surged towards the box and unleashed a curling that sailed just over Alisson Becker's crossbar.
Watford were then dealt a serious blow on 33 minutes when Deulofeu landed awkwardly after a challenge with Virgil van Dijk and was replaced by Perrera.
While the Hornets had another big chance through Troy Deeney just before the halftime break, Jurgen Klopp's men did not register one effort within the right direction|not off course"> on track in the half .
Ten minutes into the last half , the house side were ahead as Abdoulaye Doucouré got before Van Dijk to select out Senegal international Ismaila Sarr, who poked the ball beyond Alisson from six-yards out.
The lead was doubled on the hour mark as Sarr completed his brace with a fragile lob over the on-rushing Alisson after the Reds defence visited sleep.
It got even better for the house side within the 72nd minute, with Sarr beating Alisson to the ball to line up Deeney who fired into an empty for the third goal.
The Reds were unable to seek out how back to the competition because the Reds' 'invincibles' dream is shattered, while Watford move out of the relegation zone.
