Date: 13 December 2019
Venue: PreZero Arena
Augsburg extended their unbeaten run in the Bundesliga to five matches after defeating Hoffenheim 4-2 in a thrilling encounter on Friday evening.
The visitors got off to the perfect start when Philipp Max opened the scoring after 11 minutes with his third league goal of the season.
The lead didn't last too long though, as Hoffenheim were back on level terms three minutes later thanks to Robert Skov's effort after being set up by Sebastian Rudy.
The equaliser put the home side back in control in terms of the statistics, but they were unable to carve out another clear-cut opening in the first half.
Hoffenheim were made to pay for not converting their dominance into goals, as Augsburg restored their lead after being awarded a penalty, which Max converted on 51 minutes to complete his brace.
The visitors bagged a third goal five minutes later, with Frederik Jensen finding the back of the net with his first-ever Bundesliga strike.
Jurgen Locadia reduced the deficit for Hoffenheim in the 80th minute to set up a nervous finish at the PreZero Arena.
However, Augsburg made the points safe with five minutes remaining in the game thanks to Iago's strike as the visitors moved up to 10th spot in the standings.
