Barcelona must not be given title as Real Madrid were better
Thibaut Courtois claims it would be unfair to hand Barcelona the La Liga title this season because his Real Madrid side have already been the better team throughout.

The Catalans are two points before their bitter rivals near the top of the Spanish league with 11 games remaining but there's been no indication yet if the campaign will be completed completely.

As the leagues in Spain, England, Italy and Germany are exploring ways to start out playing again, Belgium, Netherland and France have all didn't conclude the 2019-20 season as a result of Covid-19.

"Of course I'd like to finish the season. We are two points behind Barcelona, so it is still possible we can be champions. So it is unfortunate if the growing season is cancelled," the Belgium international said on his YouTube channel.

"For instance, in France there were two teams which were relegated, they maybe could have saved themselves, they won't like this. In Netherlands, no team will be crowned champions, no team is being promoted or relegated. It's unfortunate for guys from the next tier who couldn't rise.

"So if indeed they decide this morning to avoid your competition and Barcelona are named champions, I also wouldn't find that completely right. The coach of Barcelona wouldn't find that logical.

"They drew against us once and lost once, so we showed them that we will be the better team, but we're still two points behind, therefore i don't really agree with that.

"In England, I possibly could understand if Liverpool became champions. I could understand if indeed they made them the champions.

"What do you do with the ones that are supposed to go up and down? I believe the economy, the tv set money plays a large role in that. It's difficult."

La Liga announced on Monday it planned to restart the Spanish league campaign in June after a lot more than 8 weeks without games as a result of coronavirus pandemic.

Individual training will get started for players this week following the country's government lifted sport-related measures. Courtois was looking to be tested on Wednesday for coronavirus. "It appears like we'll be tested on Wednesday - technically it's not confirmed until they officially i want to know that I can come," the 27-year-old said.

"So, Wednesday test day to see if we are infected. Then, in theory, next week we are able to go individually, but it doesn't mean training. That is determined by what the club and the federal government decide. The only sure thing at this point is that people will be tested this week."
