Benzema Upset With Transfer Call? Mbappe Responds
25 May, 2022
Kylian Mbappe has addressed the prospect of Karim Benzema being upset with his decision to reject a move to Real Madrid in this coming transfer window.
In the wake of the 23-year-old's decision to sign a new three-year deal at Paris Saint-Germain over joining the 13-time UEFA Champions League winners, a number of Real players took to social media to react.
Benzema was among those who posted cryptic messages, which included an image of his hand pointing to a Los Blancos badge and another of late rapper Tupac Shakur, who was controversially killed in 1996.

In the picture of the deceased music artist is a man in the background who was, for years, accused of playing a role in Shakur's death, with many interpreting the 2022 Ballon d'Or favourite's post to mean he is pointing out a betrayal. Speaking about his contract renewal, Mbappe said in a recent interview he would chat privately to Benzema about why he made the call to stay in Paris.
"Yes, yes, and I saw several Real Madrid players publishing things. I have nothing to say," he told Marca.
"Of course, when I go to the French national team, I will explain to Karim why I stayed at PSG because we have a good relationship.
"You don't have to have done Saint-Cyr [French military training] to understand that it comes from above, right?
"I didn't want to overdo it. I know everyone was talking about Karim and Kylian, Kylian and Karim… but when we were with the national team, we were only talking about the evening meal. We weren't talking about Real Madrid.
"I didn't want to force this thing. When we see each other, we'll discuss it. He'll ask me why and I'll explain this choice to him."
