Venue: Santiago Bernabeu
Asensio was given a rare start along with Eduardo Camavinga, Rodrygo and Miguel Guitierrez as Dani Carvajal, Casemiro, Luka Modric and Eden Hazard dropped to the bench.
Benzema carried on from where he left off at the weekend after opening the scoring inside two minutes with a neat finish past Manolo Reina after winning possession high up the pitch.
Mallorca pushed for an equaliser thereafter and went close just before the 20-minute mark as Lago Junior saw his powerful strike sail just over Thibaut Courtois' crossbar.
It was the hosts who got the next goal on 24 minutes as the retuning Asensio showed quick reactions to pounce on a rebound after Rodrygo saw his effort blocked by Reina.
The away side did pull a goal back a minute later after Lee Kang-In skipped past a couple challenges before curling the ball beyond Courtois from close range.
That joy didn't last too long as Asensio completed his brace on 30 minutes after collecting a neatly timed pass by Benzema before finding the back of the net with a neat finish.
Los Blancos showed no signs of slowing down in the second half as Benzema had a goal disallowed on 49 minutes, before Asensio completed his hat-trick six minutes later after curling the ball into the far corner.
Benzema got his second goal with 12 minutes left on the clock. The Frenchman got on the end of a long pass from David Alaba and got a bit of luck with a deflection that sailed past Rein as the hosts reclaimed top spot in LaLiga.
There was enough time for a sixth goal after Vinicius Junior turned provider and squared the ball for Isco, who made no mistake by firing into the bottom corner to round off a big win.
