De Bruyne & Mahrez Humiliate Man Utd In Derby Loss
Manchester City secured the bragging rights in the Manchester derby for the second time this season after thrashing Manchester United 4-1 on Sunday evening.

Premier League
Result: Manchester City 4-1 Manchester United
Date: 06 March 2022
Venue: Etihad

The big news in regard to United was that Cristiano Ronaldo was ruled out with a slight recurrence of his hip flexor injury. Meanwhile, Raphael Varane and Luke Shaw were also omitted due to having tested positive for Covid-19 in the week. As a result, Jadon Sancho, Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire came into the starting lineup. United were immediately under pressure when City took the lead with just five minutes gone through Kevin de Bruyne. Jack Grealish and Bernardo Silva combined down the left and the latter cut the ball back into the box for De Bruyne, who got there ahead of Alex Telles to slot the ball into the back of the net on his left foot.

Sancho could not finish a much easier opportunity five minutes before half-time when Fernandes' decoy run opened up space for the Englishman, who blazed wastefully over the bar.

Riyad Mahrez was denied by some brilliance from David de Gea when the City winger cut in from the right flank and drilled an effort towards the bottom-left corner but it was turned away by De Gea.

Mahrez gave City some breathing space with a pearler of a goal. De Bruyne floated the ball to the edge of the box where Mahrez hit it first-time on the volley and his crisp strike took a slight deflection off Maguire before nestling in the bottom corner.

The rout was completed when Mahrez grabbed his brace in stoppage time after running onto a slide-rule pass from Gundogan before thumping the ball into the back of the net, with VAR approving the goal after the offside flag was raised.
