Fati Responds To 'Messi Return' Rumour
A year on from his historic departure from Barcelona, rumour has it that Lionel Messi could once again play for the club. Blaugrana starlet Ansu Fati has had his say on the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner's possible return.

After spending 21 years in Catalonia, Messi left the Camp Nou during the 2021 off-season and joined Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent. The LaLiga giants were unable to extend the Argentine's contract with the club due to their financial constraints and was thus allowed to leave on a free transfer.

However, now that the five-time European champions are slowly navigating their way out of their dire financial situation under the leadership of club president Joan Laporta and head coach Xavi Hernandez, the prospect of bringing Messi back to the Camp Nou seems to be a possibility. After the Argentine left the Blaugrana, 19-year-old Ansu Fati inherited the club's iconic number 10 jersey, and with news of a possible Messi return emerging, the Spain international has now had his say on the matter.

"Leo Messi returning to play for Barca would be the best of farewells," Fati told Spanish television network tv3cat.

"We would love him to return to Barcelona. He is the best player in history."

Fati joins a long line of football greats who have worn the famous No. 10 at Barca, with the likes of Ronaldinho, Rivaldo and Diego Maradona all having had the honour of establishing the legacy of the number at the club.

Fati and Messi shared a dressing room for a season, during which the Guinea-Bissau-born forward emerged as one of the brightest young talents in European football.

The Argentine, meanwhile, is entering the final 12 months of his current deal in the French capital, and his former teammate Xavi has reportedly already made it known that he wishes to welcome the legendary football back to the club where he made his name.
