Messi's Father Makes 'Request' To Barcelona
It has been claimed that Lionel Messi's father has requested that Barcelona's president keeps his son's name out of his mouth following some recent comments about the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner.

While, at the time, it did not appear that chief Joan Laporta and Messi were involved in a dispute, remarks made since the Argentine's shock departure from the Catalan giants last year suggest that both parties were holding feelings of resentment toward one another.

On several occasions, Laporta has hinted that he would have liked Messi to do more to stay at the Camp Nou despite the LaLiga club's severely poor economic situation, comments that reportedly upset the Blaugrana's record goalscorer. More was said this week when Laporta was asked about a potential return for the Paris Saint-Germain No. 30, to which he responded by insisting the only way it would be possible was if the 34-year-old came back as a free agent.

Laporta continued by saying it would also depend on the sporting project and whether the technical staff at Barcelona were interested in adding him to their plans.

According to journalist Manu Carreno on SER, Jorge Messi has requested that the Barcelona president stops mentioning his son in interviews, with it being reported that the initial conversation was "friendly and amicable".

However, it is believed Laporta's latest remarks – in which he discussed Messi's possible return by saying, "Messi left the way he left. The truth is that we all wanted for him to end his career here. The thing is that when these players sign for Paris, they find that they can never leave." – has caused upset in the Argentine's camp.
