LaLiga Star Makes Int. Switch To Africa Official
A LaLiga star has confirmed that he will be switching his international allegiance from Europe to Africa.

Athletic Bilbao striker Inaki Williams has now officially chosen to represent Ghana.

The 28-year-old, who is the son of Ghanaian immigrants, was born in the Basque region and has spent the entirety of his life living in Spain. He even represented the 2010 FIFA World Cup winners back in 2016 under Vicente del Bosque.

However, because his lone appearance for La Furia Roja came when he was 21, and it was the only time the forward played for the Spanish national team, Williams is now able to make the switch to the African nation. The striker is now eligible to represent the Black Stars at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where they will be contesting in one of the tougher groups at the tournament in Group H, which also contains South Korea, Portugal, and Uruguay.

Williams confirmed his pledge to the four-time Africa Cup of Nations winners on his official social media accounts.

"Every step we take forward has its own meaning. An evolution. A glance into the future which leaves a trace itself. A legacy. My parents have raised me with values based on humility, respect and love," he said, as per GhanaSoccernet.com.

"They have taught me to embrace life. In that constant quest to continue growing and working upon the pursuit of evolving personally and professionally as an individual.

"That's why I feel the moment has come for me to find my origins within myself and with Africa and Ghana which means so much to me and my family.

"I want to return a small part of everything it has given to us because Ghana has played a significant part of becoming who I am as a person, as a son and as a brother.

"Today a new challenge begins. From now on, I will defend Ghana's T-shirt with all my will whilst I give my best. I'm one of the Black Stars."

The international switches of Tariq Lamptey, Stephan Ambrosius, Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer, and Patric Pfeiffer have also been completed by the Ghana Football Association.
