Mahrez Stars As Algeria Extend Unbeaten Run To 30 Matches
Algeria inflicted yet another crushing defeat in their qualifying campaign with a 6-1 hammering of Niger at home, extending their unbeaten run to 30 matches in the processs.

Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez netted a penalty and another strike for a brace whilst Sofiane Feghouli, Zakariya Souleymane’s own-goal and Islam Slimani’s double set the Desert Foxes clear.

As mentioned, it is the Desert Foxes’ second big win in the qualifiers following their opening day 8-0 bashing of Djibouti, as Niger’s sole strike came from Daniel Sosah.

Egypt 1-0 Libya

Egypt’s reign under Carlos Queiroz began positively following a 1-0 win over Libya in a North African derby in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Friday.

Quieroz replaced the sacked Hossam El Badry after their 1-1 draw with Gabon last month, and Omar Marmoush’s winner ensured the Pharaohs head the top of Group F.

Malawi 0-3 Ivory Coast

Ivory Coast continued to dominate Group D in their qualifying quest courtesy of a 3-0 victory over Malawi at the Orlando Stadium.

The Elephants lead the group with just one point from second-place Cameroon, and banked on Max Gradel, Ibrahim Sangare and Jeremie Boga to brush Malawi aside ahead of Monday’s second clash.

Cameroon 3-1 Mozambique

Cameroon cruised to a commanding 3-1 victory over Mozambique, who ended with ten players to keep level with Ivory Coast.

After losing their match against the Elephants last month, Cameroon were keen to get their back on track and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting’s double provided the head-start.

Karl Toko Ekambi added to the equation in the second half, as Geny Cipriano Catamo got the Mambas a response before Danilo Muze saw red.

Angola 3-1 Gabon

Gabon were not able to build on their impressive draw against Egypt in their last match after going down 3-1 to Angola with Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on the field.

Antonio Cabacar Salvador, Ary Papel and Jonathan Buatu goals gave the Palancas Negras their maiden victory in the group, as Axel Meye got the visitors reply.

Djibouti 0-4 Burkina Faso

Burkina Faso remained in second spot in Group A after thumping Djibouti 4-0 on the road following their goalless draw with the leaders Algeria last time out.

Abdoul Tapsoba bagged a double with Issa Kabore and Mohamed Konate on target for the Stallions too, as the two nations meet again on Monday.
