Messi's Stance On CR7 As Teammate Revealed?
19 February, 2022
With reports suggesting that Cristiano Ronaldo could be bound for Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season, Lionel Messi's feelings about playing with his long-time rival have seemingly been revealed.
Amid speculation that Ronaldo has a broken relationship with Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick, the striker's future at Old Trafford has been up in the air as speculation regarding a potential move to PSG intensify.
According to Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, however, Messi would not be eager to be joined by his old rival at the Parc des Princes, while Ronaldo is not keen on having the former Barcelona captain as his teammate. "From an economic point of view, in terms of merchandising, definitely," Di Marzio to German news outlet Wettfreunde.net.
"His jersey would be the next blockbuster. But I don't think Messi wants to play with Ronaldo and Ronaldo wants to play with Messi. Your relationship isn't the best.
"Messi, Neymar and Ronaldo would not be a good combination, whether on or off the pitch.
"I don't think PSG are interested in it either."
Les Parisiens are reportedly prioritising Kylian Mbappe's contract renewal, but should their last-ditch efforts to keep the Frenchman fail, bringing in a new forward will be essential.
Although Ronaldo is still playing at a relatively high level considering his age of 37, the PSG hierarchy would be keen to inject youth into their forward line with Messi, Angel Di Maria and Neymar all 30 and over.
The Ligue 1 leaders could look to land Erling Haaland or another younger player as their new main striker should Mbappe leave.
