Nine Footballers Who Came Out Of Retirement
With Nigeria legend Vincent Enyeama seemingly ready to go back to football with Kaizer Chiefs or Orlando Pirates, listed below are nine other international players who made a career U-turn after deciding to hold up their boots

Although Enyeama has not officially end his playing career, the legendary Nigeria shot-stopper was in a state of effective retirement having last played in 2018, and previously revealed that he would hang up the phone his boots forever by the end of the 2019/20 season, according to GFFN.

The 37-year-old would not be the first international star to generate a U-turn on that decision, however, with a number of the games biggest names having found it difficult to remain away from the beautiful game.

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes is one such player, having returned to the pitch in 2012 significantly less than half a year after retiring following a personal injury crisis at the club. He made an additional 21 appearances across all competitions and helped the Red Devils retain their Premier League crown.

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann made a similar decision in 2011 when he pulled on the gloves for just one last time for the Gunners after a personal injury to regular 'keeper Manuel Almunia.

In 2008, carrying out a four-year hiatus from the game, legendary Dutch winger Marc Overmars returned to become listed on JUST DO IT Eagles, but didn't replicate the form that had made him popular at Arsenal and FC Barcelona during his earlier years.

Other stars, such as for example former Celtic, FC Barcelona and Manchester United forward Henrik Larsson and Brazilian legends Roberto Carlos and Romario, all dusted off their boots during the past too - you can view the entire list by scrolling through the image gallery above!
