Nissan recalling 854,000 Sentra cars found in U.S., Canada to repair brake light problem
10 March, 2021
Nissan is recalling a lot more than 854,000 cars found in the U.S. and Canada for the reason that brake lights may not come on when the driver presses on the pedal.
The recall covers specific Sentra compacts from the 2016 through 2019 model years, including more than 807,000 in the U.S.
Nissan says silicon contamination from grease used in nearby components could cause oxidation that can make the end lamp switch near to the brake pedal malfunction. If that occurs, the stop lamps may not light and the engine might not start. Owners may see a malfunction indicator light on the dashboard if the problem happens.
Nissan says it isn't alert to any crashes or accidents due to the problem.
Owners will get a interim restoration letter in April that will tell them to schedule a service appointment if they experience the problem. When sufficient parts can be purchased in the fall, another letter will be dispatched showing all owners to produce a service appointment. Dealers will replace the swap and add a protective grommet.
