Real Edge Closer To LaLiga Title As Benzema Miss Two Penalties!
Real Madrid took another step closer to reclaiming the LaLiga title after defeating Osasuna 3-1 on Wednesday evening.

Venue: Estadio El Sadar

Rodrygo and Dani Ceballos were handed starts in place of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, who were rested for the encounter while Nacho and Marco Asensio were also recalled.

Los Blancos came into the encounter with a good record against Osasuna on the road, as they have not tasted defeat at Estadio El Sadar in their last seven visits. That record was seemingly intact after David Alaba gave the visitors the lead on 12 minutes following a scramble in the Osasuna box. However, that joy only last one minute as the home side restored parity when an un-marked Ante Budimir nodded home Chimy Avila's cross at the far post.

Osasuna had the ball in the back of the net for a second time 10 minutes before the halftime break, but Budimir's header was cancelled out by the Video Assistant Referee for an offside.

However, Madrid were not to be denied just before the break as Asensio tapped home the rebound from close range after Ceballos saw his strike saved by Sergio Herrera.

Real looked to pick up from where they left off in the first half after being awarded a penalty seven minutes into the second stanza. However, Benzema was unable to profit as his spot-kick was saved by Sergio Herrera.

Los Blancos were awarded a second penalty just before the hour mark for Aleix Vidal's foul on Rodrygo. Benzema stepped up once again but Herrera went the right way and saved the spot-kick once again.

Osasuna responded by throwing on Oier and Kike Barja for the final 20 minutes, while Isco got a rare appearance after replacing Eduardo Camavinga.

Dani Carvajal and Nacho had big chances to make the game safe for Real in the final 10 minutes, but both defenders failed to capitalise in the Osasuna box.

Nevertheless, Los Blancos were not punished for those misses as Lucas Vazquez bagged the third goal in the fifth minute of stoppage time to send his side 17 points clear of second-place Atletico Madrid.
