Real Madrid's Five-Man Exit List Revealed?
10 November, 2021
With a clearout said to be planned, Real Madrid are reportedly aiming to get rid of five players over the next few months in a bid to raise funds.
Spanish publication Sport has suggested that the 13-time UEFA Champions League winners are hoping to raise money and free up the wage bill ahead of the end of the current campaign.
With those funds, Los Blancos could be planning on strengthening the squad with key signings, with Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland strongly linked with Carlo Ancelotti's side.
The proposed clearout could see some high-profile stars being moved on, with winger Gareth Bale among three first-team players whose contracts are set to expire in 2022.
Due to his age and fitness issues, it appears unlikely the ex-Tottenham Hotspur man will be offered a new deal in the Spanish capital, in which he first arrived in 2013 and where he has celebrated 13 trophies with the team.
Isco is another high earner who could be allowed to depart for free in June next year, while club-record signing and best-paid player Eden Hazard might be placed on the transfer list if reports are to be believed.
Speaking in a recent press conference, Carlo Ancelotti admitted that the Belgian's limited opportunities in his starting XI can be put down to the "manager preferring other players".
Since his big-money arrival from Chelsea in 2019, Hazard has made just 54 senior appearances and contributed to only 14 goals across all competitions for Real, although he does still have three years left on his contract.
The 30-year-old, who turns 31 in January, has been linked with a switch to newly-rich Newcastle United, who could be set to bring in some established names over the coming seasons following their billionaire-backed takeover.
