Samsung Regains Lead in Global Smartphone Market in Q3
02 November, 2020
Samsung wrested the lead in global smartphone sales back from China's Huawei in the 3rd quarter of the year.
Samsung was overtaken by Huawei in the second quarter by a fraction of a percent, but reclaimed the lead in the 3rd quarter with a market share of 22 percent, according to a report from market watcher Counterpoint Research released on Sunday.
Huawei ranked second with 14 percent, accompanied by Xiaomi and Apple.
Analysts attribute the jump in Samsung's sales to strong performances by the new Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy A smartphones, and also pent-up demand as coronavirus lockdowns have already been eased worldwide.
