What's Rare Beauty?
Gomez initially announced the launch found in 2020, pegging it as a brand that’s all about “breaking down unrealistic criteria of perfection”.
She reiterates this in her most up-to-date video tutorial announcing its global expansion.
“Our mission with Rare Wonder is to help people celebrate their individuality,” she says. “We all have been unique and that’s what makes every single one of us beautiful.”
The theory behind the brand is not about "hiding why is you unique", but "being who you are."
“Rare is such a particular word if you ask me. It’s about eliminating the need for perfection. It’s about being comfortable with who you happen to be, embracing who you are, loving who you will be and accepting yourself. I want all of us to give up comparing and begin embracing our own uniqueness,” she says.
Gomez has been an ardent advocate for human body positivity and mental well being, after admitting that she suffered from depressive disorder and anxiety during the past.
“At the beginning, it wasn't easy for me to be open with the actual fact that I was struggling with depression and anxiety. I felt like there is a pressure to be ideal, as so many persons looked up if you ask me. But after I made a decision to seek support and be open about what I was feeling, it was such a relief. I think admitting I am a individual, and not perfect - nobody is - was basically more good for the people that looked up if you ask me,” she wrote within an judgment piece for CNN.
The brand will be sticking with its altruistic roots, too; it has announced that one % of all sales, as well as funds raised from companions, will be focused on the Rare Impact Fund that aims to improve access to mental health resources.
Starting Thursday, July 1, persons should be able to store the collection which include the Always A great Optimist Illuminating primer, Always an Optimist 4-in-1 mist, Liquid Touch Weightless base, and Liquid Touch Brightening concealer, which are each obtainable in 32 shades to suit different skin tones.
