Sharjah Entrepreneurship Event to focus on rebuilding post-Covid economies

Global entrepreneurs, a Nobel laureate, business leaders and influential life coaches from around the world will discuss entrepreneurship challenges, hold workshops and inspire another generation of change-makers at the virtual Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival (SEF) starting on Sunday.
Organised simply by the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Centre (Sheraa), the fourth edition of SEF are going to be held beneath the theme #BeTheHero as the environment rebuilds societies and economies post-Covid.
It seeks to motivate and inspire more socially-conscious entrepreneurs to create an impact on their communities and build an improved future collectively, Sheraa said in a assertion.
The five-evening SEF agenda includes ten knowledge-sharing panel discussions, five interactive workshops and nine keynote sessions. It will be free to attend within Sheraa’s $1 million solidarity fund.
This fund was created in May to aid start-ups struggling to handle the monetary fallout from the coronavirus pandemic. It had been established instead of Sheraa’s annual entrepreneurship events, that have been cancelled to stick to safety guidelines place by the authorities.
“Sheraa believes that persons have the power to improve the world through entrepreneurship,” its leader Najla Al Midfa said.
“That is apparent now more than ever, as change-makers around the world lead the charge towards building more resilient communities … better and more prosperous economies. This shared impression of goal and responsibility will be highlighted at SEF,” she added.
Eminent speakers at SEF include Dr Jane Goodall, a UN messenger of peace; Muhammad Yunus, 2006 Nobel Peace Prize champion and Bangladeshi public entrepreneur; Jacqueline Novogratz, founder and leader of a non-earnings global capital raising fund Acumen; and Anousheh Ansari, the world’s 1st female private space explorer.
In January, Sharjah was rated among the world's top 10 10 fastest-growing cities on the globe by the Economist Intelligence Unit.
Attracting overseas investment across sectors is definitely a key priority for the Sharjah government since it cuts its reliance about oil revenues and goes on to diversify its economy.
