Spurs Sink Everton To Move Level With Man City
16 October, 2022
Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 Everton
Tottenham Hotspur moved to within a point of Premier League leaders Arsenal after defeating Everton 2-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The first half proved to be a frustrating one for the home side, who had to wait until the 59th minute for the opening goal when Harry Kane converted a penalty after being fouled by Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
Pierre-Emile Højbjerg made the game safe for Spurs in the 86th minute with his third goal of the campaign, as Spurs moved level on points with second-place Manchester City. Everton, meanwhile, have dropped to 14th position on the table ahead of Wednesday's clash against Newcastle United.
Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 Nottingham Forest
Wolverhampton Wanderers registered their second win of the campaign after defeating struggling Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon. Ruben Neves got the opening goal for the home side on 10 minutes after the break, with the midfielder converting a penalty. Forest were awarded a penalty of their own with 11 minutes to go, but Brenan Johnson's strike was saved by Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa.
Fulham 2-2 Bournemouth
Fulham and Bournemouth shared the spoils in the battle of the newly promoted sides at Craven Cottage. Dominic Solanke put the visitors ahead after just two minutes, before Issa Diop levelled matters in the 22nd minute after turning home Andreas Pereira's cross. Jefferson Lerma got the Cherries back in front seven minutes later, but Fulham needed a 52nd minute penalty from Aleksandra Mitrovic to rescue a point.
Leicester City 0-0 Crystal Palace
Leicester City and Crystal Palace could not be separated after playing to a goalless draw at the King Power Stadium. The draw leaves Leicester in 19th position after 10 games while Palace find themselves in 13th. The Foxes take on Leeds United on Thursday night, while Palace play hosts to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday.
