Reds manager Jurgen Klopp recalled Joel Matip from their win over Southampton on Saturday, as the Toffees dropped Richarlison straight in the line-up after he served suspension.

The Reds were up and running with nine minutes gone after Jordan Henderson showcased a striker’s instinct on the edge of the area and curled in Andrew Robertson’s delivery.

Henderson switched roles ten minutes thereafter when Salah managed to open space from a tight angle to go on and curl beyond Jordan Pickford.

Liverpool wasn’t done with their menacing act just after the half-hour mark and had Sadio Mane closing in from a smart position, but Pickford was on hand to make the save.

The Toffees were given a glimmer of hope seven minutes towards the break when a first-time pass into space by Richarlison freed Demarai Gray, who raced clear to profit from point-blank range.

With the second half underway, Everton instantly looked for the equaliser with balls and runs in around the defensive third but there was nothing worth coming.

However, Liverpool put daylight between themselves and Everton in the middle of the second period after Salah pounced on an error from Seamus Coleman to race clear on goal and slot into the far corner.

The Reds bagged a fourth with under 12 minutes remaining after Diogo Jota managed to bring a ball from Robertson under control before rifling the ball past Pickford from a tight angle to wrap up a big win.
