Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have fallen further down the ranking of the very most valuable football stars, with two Africans and a Ghana refugee in the brand new top 10.
The International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES), a Swiss-based football statistics institute, has published its latest update on transfer values of Europe’s top players.
Multiple variables were taken into account, including players performances, age, contract length and potentially interested clubs.
Despite the coronavirus pandemic, Kylian Mbappe’s transfer value has remained a whole lot higher than the rest of the top 10 10. The 21-year-old still has a contract with PSG until 2023, with his transfer value estimated to be €259.2 million (R4.9 billion).
Meanwhile, Messi has dropped outside the top 20 for an initial time along with his contract set to expire next year. The Argentine is currently worth €100.1 million (R1.9 billion), which is €37.3 million (R708 million) a lot more than Ronaldo.
The Juventus superstar only sits in 70th position with a worth of €62.8 million (R1.2 billion), but he's the oldest player among the top 100.
The rise of Bayern Munich prodigy Alphonso Davies, who was born in a refugee camp in Ghana to Liberian parents aqnd is currently the youngest player in the ranking, has been underlined by his massive rise in value to €133.5 million (R2.5 billion), which includes seen him climb in ninth position.
