Barca Star Drops Big Retirement Hint
09 September, 2021
FC Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has dropped a big hint about when he is set to hang up his boots.
The Spanish centre-back has been with the Catalan first team since 2008 after spending a few years at Manchester United, where he struggled to get regular game time.
Pique has had great success for both club and country in the past decade, but the 34-year-old has now admitted this could be his final season.
"I will retire at Barca," the defender told La Sotana.
"This could be the last season, yes. I go year after year, so I cannot guarantee that I will be there next season. The day I feel that I can't help Barca anymore, I will retire."
The Blaugrana veteran was also asked about former club president Josep Maria Bartomeu and how he seemingly left the club.
"I don't know if he was the worst, but for me, during my time, he's on the list for sure," Pique added.
"We all make mistakes, but in his time Barca weren't where they should be."
