Premier League
Result: Liverpool 2-0 Everton
Date: 24 April 2022
Venue: Anfield
Jurgen Klopp went for a front-three of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota, while Michael Keane replaced Ben Godfrey who picked up a knock in the warm up.
The game got off to a lively affair as the Toffees and the Reds came out to play in the early stages, although there were no clear chances in the first 15 minutes. The visitors had the first real opening in the 36th minute when Doucoure was slipped through on goal down the right, but the Frenchman dragged his effort wide of the mark. While the Reds struggled to carve out chances, there was a bit of handbags in the latter part of the half, with Sadio Mane lucky not to be sent off for an off-the-ball incident with Allan.
The tempo carried over to the second half as Anthony Gordon had a big chance to break the deadlock for the visitors on 55 minutes but he fired wide of the mark after breaking free down the left side of the box.
Klopp was the first manager to use his bench as Luis Diaz and Divock Origi replaced Naby Keita and Sadio Mane for the final 30 minutes of the game.
The hosts got the breakthrough two minutes later as Mohamed Salah floated a cross to the far post where Andrew Robertson was on hand to head home his second league goal of the season.
Frank Lampard responded by introducing Dele Alli for Allan with 15 minutes left on the clock and he nearly made the desired impact with a teasing ball into the box which forced Robertson to make a last-ditch block.
However, it was a Liverpool substitute who wrapped up the win as Origi got his customary goal against Everton with a close-range header from Diaz's acrobatic cross.
