It was business as usual for Bayern Munich, who opened the new Bundesliga season with a 6-1 thrashing of Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday evening.

Bavarians manager Julian Nagelsmann went with the same side that started against RB Leipzig in the Super Cup last weekend, as Sadio Mane was given his Bundesliga debut.

Despite the loud atmosphere, the visitors got off to the perfect start when Joshua Kimmich opened the scoring on five minutes with a free-kick from distance that caught out Kevin Trapp at his near post. The lead was doubled five minutes later as Frankfurt's failure to clear their lines saw Muller's effort fall into the path of Benjamin Pavard, who rifled the ball into the top corner.

Chances continued to fall at both ends, as Muller somehow fired against the upright with the net gaping while Jesper Lindstrom was left one-on-one with Manuel Neuer before sending his effort wide of the mark.

The third goal arrived in the 29th minute, with Mane marking his debut league debut with a neat header at the near post off Serge Gnabry's cross.

The final 10 minutes of the second half continued in the same fashion, as Jamal Musiala got his name on the scoresheet after turning home a cross from Muller before Gnabry grabbed the fifth goal two minutes before the break.

Frankfurt coach Oliver Glasner responded with a triple change at the start of the second half, as Christopher Lenz, Kristijan Jakic and Randal Kolo Muani.

The changes did prove fruitful after the hour mark as Kolo Muani pulled a goal back in the 64th minute with a strike from 20-yards after an error from Manuel Neuer.

However, Bayern restored their five-goal advantage with seven minutes left on the clock as Musiala completed his brace with another close-range finish after some good passing in the build-up.
