Liverpool Edge Closer To Last 8, Bayern Held In Austria
Inter Milan 0-2 Liverpool
Liverpool claimed a crucial 2-0 victory over Inter Milan in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League last 16 tie on Wednesday evening.

The Italians were giving their English counterparts a hard time as Calhanoglu rattled the bar for the home side when the Turk was threaded down the left-hand flank by Ivan Perisic.

The Reds threatened for the first time shortly before the half-hour mark when Trent Alexander-Arnold pulled the trigger from 25 yards and it bent inches wide of the left post. With five minutes to go before the interval, Milan Skriniar missed a glorious opportunity to put the Nerrazzuri in front when he rose highest to meet Calhanoglu's cross but somehow headed wide from close range.

Edin Dzeko thought he had given Inter the lead on the hour mark when Denzel Dumfries released him through on goal and he slotted past Allison but the flag was raised with the Bosnian only just offside.

The Reds stuck it out and turned the game on its head. Andy Robertson's excellent inswinging corner from the right was headed expertly by Roberto Firmino away from Handanovic in the bottom right corner.

Mohamed Salah then put the icing on the cake with his first goal since his Africa Cup of Nations heartbreak by slotting into the bottom corner after some good work by Van Dijk.

Red Bull Salzburg 1-1 Bayern Munich
A late Kingsley Coman goal salvaged a 1-1 draw for Bayern Munich with Red Bull Salzburg on Wednesday evening in Round of 16 first-leg action at Red Bull Arena on Wednesday evening.

As expected it was Bayern who began on the front foot. In the 11th minute a diagonal found Serge Gnabry on the right and he left Salzburg captain Andreas Ulmer and the Germany international cut inside before his left-footed curler forced Philipp Kohn into getting down smartly to his left to push it away.

Mohamed Camara found Karim Adeyemi on the right and he went inside before cutting it back to Brenden Aaronson, who laid it off to Chukwubuike Adamu and he stunned the Bayern faithful with a curler into the far post corner on 21 minutes.

The Bavarians were under the pump with their less-fancied opponents bossing the game and Adamu this time turned provider for Aaronson, who swivelled past Niklas Sule and Ulreich got a decisive hand to another rasping effort.

Kingsley Coman was causing all sorts of problems for the Austrians. Kristensen was bamboozled by the France international to as the winger worked his way into the box and went for goal with Kohn getting down to help it just wide of the near post.

In the end, the Bavarians would get the equaliser they deserved. Benjamin Pavard lifted a long ball over the top from the right and Thomas Muller flicked it on for Coman at the back post to turn it in from close range for a share of the spoils.
