Messi Breaks Another Ronaldo Record

With Lionel Messi ending his longest scoring drought because the 2013/14 campaign in style on the weekend, he also broke an archive held by longstanding rival Cristiano Ronaldo during his Man of the Match performance.
The Argentine had gone four LaLiga games without scoring before netting four times in his side's 5-0 make an impression on Eibar on Saturday.
The 32-year-old thus took his overall league tally to 18 strikes for the season after scoring the 54th hat-trick of his career and even adding a fourth goal.!
At club level, he has scored 48 trebles, overtaking Ronaldo, who has 47 hat-tricks for the various clubs he has represented. Messi also extended his own record of the very most hat-tricks in LaLiga to 36 - two more than Ronaldo managed before leaving Spain's top flight for Juventus in 2018.
Overall, though, the Portugal superstar still has two more hat-tricks than his rival, with Ronaldo having netted 56 trebles throughout his career.
Messi has scored 48 hat-tricks for Barcelona and six for Argentina, while Ronaldo scored 44 hat-tricks for Real Madrid, two for Juventus, one for Manchester United and nine with the Portuguese national team.
