Report: New Man Utd Boss Identifies First Target
01 December, 2021
It has been reported that new Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick has already identified who his first transfer target will be.
According to FourFourTwo, the legendary German tactician wants to bring Mali international Amadou Haidara, whom he worked with at RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga, to the Red Devils as his first signing.
The 23-year-old joined Leipzig in January 2019 after being brought in by Rangnick halfway through the 2018/19 campaign.
Haidara, who has been capped 24 times for his country, is a central midfielder who could be key to the new interim manager implementing his famous "gegenpress" approach at United, which is premised on fast transitions.

The midfielder is said to be recognised as an excellent progressive passer and carrier of the ball, attributes that are complemented by his hard work out of possession.
Furthermore, not only has Haidara played in Rangnick’s high-intensity pressing system before, but he has worked under other managers who favour a similar approach, such as Julian Nagelsmann, and therefore should, in theory, not require a long period of adjustment should he join United.
Since his arrival at Leipzig, he has made an impressive 100 appearances at club level, contributing to 16 goals across all competitions.
