Why Liverpool Shouldn't Be Given The Title
18 March, 2020
With many wondering exactly what will happen if the Premier League can't be continued, it has once again been claimed that Liverpool shouldn't be given the title despite top rated the log by 25 points.
On Monday, Alan Shearer insisted the Reds shouldn't be handed their primary subject in 30 years if the season is declared null and void due to the coronavirus outbreak.
He has now received support from former Arsenal person Paul Merson, who used a good snooker analogy to describe as to why he thinks it could be unfair if Jurgen Klopp's men were handed the trophy.
He wrote in a column on Sky Activities: "It's all well telling Liverpool are 25 factors clear, but if I played snooker with my mate tomorrow, and I needed 25 snookers to get, and he said: 'The game has finished, there's no point playing on!' - for another fourteen days, I'd be expressing: 'But I possibly could have won that!'
"You truly feel for them, ready 30 years for a title. If it had been Manchester City 25 tips clear, nobody would treatment! Because they've gained it already. This group hasn't gained it for 30 years! That is like a film.
"I must say i feel for them; whether or not you offered them the league nowadays, mathematically it's not won. I understand they've won it essentially, everybody knows that, but it isn't the same! It's a shame."
