03 August, 2022
As rumours suggesting Lionel Messi could return to Barcelona intensify, a new report claims the Catalan club has received special information with regards to the Argentine's future.
The 35-year-old has just a year left on his contract at Paris Saint-Germain after his arrival in August 2021, with the forward having already played his first official match of the new season.
Messi scored as the French giants beat Nantes 4-0 in the Trophee des Champions on Sunday, amid speculation Barcelona have a genuine interest in bringing him back to Spain in 2023.

According to Diario AS journalist Manu Sainz, the Blaugrana have received information that the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner could look to leave PSG after the 2022 FIFA World Cup, likely at the end of his contract next year.It is claimed the Catalan giants are, therefore, considering an approach for their all-time record goalscorer as they look to convince Messi of a return to the Camp Nou, where he spent the bulk of his career before his shock departure.
Messi was forced to leave his boyhood club as a free agent after Laporta decided against offering him a new contract during a difficult economic situation.
The nature of his exit reportedly left a sour taste in the 2021 Copa America winner's mouth, with his relationship with Laporta taking strain in the months that followed his PSG move.
